DKLEVY Architecture was honored to partner with City Hills Church on the transformational renovation and expansion of its existing campus in Knoxville, Tennessee. As a fast-growing congregation with a clear vision for outreach, worship, and hospitality, City Hills needed a facility that could evolve with its mission while honoring the roots of its original home.

The centerpiece of this phased expansion is a new, 1,200+ seat worship auditorium that seamlessly integrates with the existing structure. Designed for clarity of experience and performance excellence, the new sanctuary features a curved seating layout, advanced audio/visual/light integration, and unobstructed views from every angle. A high-capacity stage, complete with a suspended catwalk and AVL rigging system, supports a variety of worship and production formats.

Connected to the auditorium is a vast new lobby – a gathering hall designed for welcome, conversation, and comfort. With its “Welcome Home” signature wall, expansive natural light, and community lounge furnishings, the space sets a tone of inclusion and warmth. The renovation scope also included improvements to circulation, support spaces, and overall accessibility throughout the existing building.

More than an expansion, this project is a reintroduction – one that reinforces City Hills Church’s identity as a welcoming, mission-driven faith community. DKLEVY’s design weaves together past and future, structure and spirit, into a unified place of purpose, belonging, and worship.

Apparently we had reached a great height in the atmosphere, for the sky was a dead black, and the stars had ceased to twinkle. By the same illusion which lifts the horizon of the sea to the level of the spectator on a hillside.
