Originally constructed as Knoxville High School, this award-winning adaptive reuse project transformed one of Knoxville’s most recognizable historic landmarks into a vibrant residential community while preserving the architectural character that has defined the campus for generations. Located on the northeast corner of the celebrated Knoxville High campus, the building once served notable alumni including author James Agee and Academy Award-winning actress Patricia Neal.

Encompassing more than 100,000 square feet, the renovation carefully balanced historic preservation with contemporary living, creating 76 residential units while retaining many of the building’s original architectural details. Situated within walking distance of downtown Knoxville and the Historic Old City, the project connects residents to the city’s rich cultural heritage. Recognized for excellence in preservation and design, Knoxville High received the 2018 Senior Housing News Architecture & Design Award and the 2018 Knox County Commission Preservation Award.
