Wears Valley Library is envisioned as a landmark community destination that brings reading, learning, gathering, and hospitality together within a distinctive mountain-inspired setting. The architecture draws from traditional ecclesiastical forms through steep gables, arched windows, natural stone, and a prominent observation tower, creating a memorable civic presence rooted in the character of Wears Valley.

The multi-level program includes library and study spaces, classrooms, a children’s reading room, café, coffee shop, gift shop, storage, and flexible loft areas overlooking the floors below. An observation deck at the top of the tower extends the experience vertically, offering visitors a unique connection to the surrounding landscape. Together, the design creates a place for education, community activity, quiet reflection, and appreciation of the Smoky Mountain setting.
