Whitefish, Montana | Residential

Elk Highlands Ski Lodge

Nestled in the breathtaking wilderness of Whitefish, Montana, this custom ski lodge residence captures the essence of mountain living with timeless craftsmanship, dramatic natural materials, and sweeping alpine views. DKLEVY Architecture + Design partnered with the client to create a one-of-a-kind home that celebrates the landscape while offering a luxurious, retreat-style experience.

The exterior is grounded in a rich material palette of natural stone, heavy timber, and rustic wood siding, designed to blend seamlessly into the surrounding forest. Towering rooflines, expansive covered terraces, and large gable-end windows frame spectacular vistas of the Northern Rockies and create a strong connection to nature.

Inside, the residence embodies the spirit of a true mountain retreat. Exposed timber trusses, wide-plank wood flooring, and hand-laid stone fireplaces define a grand, lodge-inspired aesthetic. An open-concept living, dining, and kitchen area invites gatherings and relaxation, centered around monumental stonework and framed by floor-to-ceiling windows that draw in light and panoramic views.

Private retreats, cozy lounges, and expansive entertaining spaces were thoughtfully designed to balance luxury and comfort. The chef’s kitchen anchors the home with stone countertops, custom cabinetry, and sweeping mountain views, blending rustic elegance with modern functionality.

The Whitefish Ski Lodge Residence reflects DKLEVY Architecture + Design’s commitment to creating extraordinary homes rooted deeply in place, where nature, craftsmanship, and design come together to offer a timeless mountain escape.

Apparently we had reached a great height in the atmosphere, for the sky was a dead black, and the stars had ceased to twinkle. By the same illusion which lifts the horizon of the sea to the level of the spectator on a hillside.
